An excursion into reality – my first oil painting
As a surrealist artist, I usually explore dreamscapes and pictorial worlds beyond the tangible.
But this time I wanted to try something different: Two small oil paintings, painted realistically, following video instructions, on canvas.
It was a new technique for me – and surprisingly, something very special emerged.
My very first oil painting shows a beach. But not just any beach – it’s the beach that reminds me of a very special trip:
The place where my sister Davina invited me for my 50th birthday, to Croatia.
We spent a wonderful time there together. This rock, this beach – we lay there, laughed, talked.
And every time I see the picture, I’m back there, in that moment.
Davina is my little sister – and she always will be for me.
We have a very special bond and I am infinitely grateful for her.
For her love, her honesty (even if she sometimes gave me a headache), and for the many memories that connect us.
Her wonderful husband Paul is also part of this gratitude – a person with heart and backbone who enriches our family.
This painting is a memory, a thank you, a little piece of heart on canvas.
And even if surrealism continues to call me, I want to share these works – because they tell of something very real:
of love, family and a moment that I will never forget.
