A picture painted with closed eyes – but with an open heart.
This picture is for my daughter.
I painted it live in front of an audience at my exhibition in the theater hall of the Augustinum senior citizens’ residence in Überlingen – blind,
as I am used to, guided by my heart, my intuition and trust in God.
Before I made the first brushstroke, I said:
“I’m going to paint a picture for my daughter now.”
She was sitting in the audience – and I wanted to show her what she means to me in a special way.
It was a surprise, a gift that came straight from my soul.
While I was painting, the song “Goodness of God” played.
And deep down I knew: this painting is not just for her.
It is an expression of something greater. Of gratitude. Of love. Of the incomprehensibly great goodness of God.
Because I am blessed – with a large family.
With many children.
With every single person who belongs to us.
This picture reminds me of all that I have been given.
Of the bond that sustains us. Of the life we are allowed to share.
Goodness of God is my silent thanks.
For my daughter.
For my family.
For the deep, loving work of God in our lives.
